How a group of diverse leaders in NY gathered to user their skills for solving sustainability issues

CHALLANGE

A team from Creative Tech Week and NYIT joined forces to create solutions that help New Yorkers during natural disasters. They partnered with Innovation Bazar to design tools that improve community health, safety, and emergency response—supported by Call for Code, the UN, and IBM.

SOLUTION​

​

We led a Design Thinking workshop to help the team create four tech-driven prototypes focused on:

  • Fast aid through visual recognition tools

  • Sensor-based alerts for early action

  • A smart app for personalized disaster preparedness
    Together, we reimagined how citizens could stay safe and connected during emergencies

RESULTS

​

  • One prototype won a prize in the Call for Code global challenge

  • The team continues to improve their solutions using the Design Thinking framework

  • Helped build a stronger, more prepared community
