How NYU Steinhardt Students Explored the Future of Learning at an EdTech Hackathon

NYU

CHALLANGE

StartED, an educational innovation challenge at NYU Steinhardt, brought together 50 participants from diverse academic backgrounds to design solutions for the future of work and learning. I was invited as a design mentor and judge to guide emerging ventures through this fast-paced EdTech hackathon.

 SOLUTION

Over the course of the day, I mentored 6 early-stage ventures using Design Thinking methods—helping them shape their ideas, refine prototypes, and align their solutions with real user needs. Each team had 90 seconds to pitch their EdTech product, followed by feedback and guidance from judges.

RESULTS

  • Ventures embraced user-centered thinking to tackle complex education challenges

  • Created lasting mentorship connections with emerging innovators

  • Sparked bold, creative ideas for the future of learning and technology
